Scrum Master
Role Responsibility
Overview
The Scrum Master role sits within the SS&C UK Delivery team. The role will be responsible for the planning and execution against a program plan in a release based cadence that delivers enhancements and features for UK based clients. Reporting into the Delivery Manager, the role will provide leadership to cross functional teams within a geographically distributed environment. The role requires strong, demonstrable experience in applying agile methodologies (e.g.: SCRUM and/or Kanban and/or SAFE) as well as waterfall techniques to successfully deliver projects.
Responsibilities
Manage delivery priorities – through consultation with the Delivery Lead and Product Management, agree on the plan and priority of delivery as well as the delivery targets and methodology.
Manage and maintain strong stakeholder relationships (both internal and external).
Work with relevant stakeholders and team to understand requirements and assist in transforming them into client deliverables.
Manage Project Tracking data including Status, Estimates, Tasks, Bugs, Issues and Risks.
Provide timely and accurate status reports
Identify project resource needs, define roles and responsibilities of team members, and ensure resources are utilized effectively.
Establish clear delivery goals and ensure team members are motivated, supported and skilled to achieve these goals. Goals can be established and executed upon through agile or waterfall methodologies – depending on the need of the program.
Maximize team effectiveness by identifying and removing impediments that inhibit performance – e.g. dependencies, inefficiencies, unnecessary processes, etc.
Enhance team's self-organisation and build a genuine culture of reflection and improvement.
Foster critical thinking and empower team members to take ownership of technical quality and their design choices.
Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to individuals and the team.
Knowledge and Technical Skills
Essential
- Experience in Project Management, JIRA and Confluence
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle and DevOps.
- Experience leading multiple project teams
- Servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
Desirable
- Experience in Backlog management, control and tracking of tasks, burndown metrics, velocity, and user stories etc.
- Experience in applying agile patterns and techniques (like Burndown techniques, Retrospective formats, handling bugs, etc.)
