Investment Trust Cash Reconciliations & Reporting Expert

Job Introduction

Responsible for ensuring daily reconciliations of Client Bank, Non client Bank and Custodian accounts are completed and daily settlement of trades in line with adherence to all FCA and CASS regulations.

Ensure monthly financial reporting is sent to the Management Companies in accordance with Service Level Agreement deadlines. Ensure information provided is accurate, complete and clearly presented and items cleared in a timely manner.  Represent the team as a Subject Matter Expert on Projects and Training new members of staff

Role Responsibility

  • Subject matter expert in Daily Reconciliations of Client & Non Client Bank Accounts - ensure matching process is both complete and accurate, adding narrative to unmatched entries, ensure all shortfall/surplus amounts are transferred in a timely manner to avoid Client Money breaches
  • Subject matter expert in Daily Reconciliation of Custodian Accounts - ensure the matching process is both complete and accurate, adding narrative to unmatched entries
  • Subject matter expert in Daily Settlement of Trades and Pre-funding is completed in line with CASS guidance
  • Taking a lead in investigation, escalation and clearance of all unmatched entries in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring clearance of unmatched items acting as point of reference for other staff
  • QC and authorising of daily ledger journal entries and bank transfers
  • Complete and assist TL/Mgr with QC of daily check lists suggesting enhancements where identified
  • Weekly/Monthly Financial Statistical Reporting analysed and explained
  • Subject matter expert in Produce monthly CMAR returns for Client Delivery within SLA
  • Subject matter expert in CMAR for daily and month end reporting
  • Provide training/assistance to other team members as and when required
  • Assist / answer all queries raised and questions asked relating to Cash Reconciliations tasks in an accurate and timely manner, being main point of contact for management companies and where appropriate, escalate to either a Team Leader or Manager
  • Utilising Frontier to full potential including report customising, report running, quick find functions and working with CFS to enhance Frontier reporting for benefit of DST and Management company finance teams
  • System changes – Taking lead on any system changes, testing and setup ensuring all team, have access
  • Complete and attend monthly service reviews for monthly financial reporting pack providing P&L/Balance sheet reconciliations to management companies confidently explaining movements and reasoning
  • Ensuring procedures are created and kept up to date for all new client’s, market/system/regulatory changes (CASS)
  • Taking on new clients – attending project meetings, client meetings to assess setup requirements
  • Investigating technical issues that arise
  • Help maintain our working systems attending workshops on system enhancements Figaro/FSU/Frontier/Percana/Infor10
  • To carry out any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed by the Client Finance Reporting Managers#
  • Have oversight and sign off of daily reconciliations of any off-shored products/reconciliations.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Knowledge of Standard Accounting Practices
  • Knowledge of Investment Trust market settlement processes
  • Strong Cash Reconciliation Knowledge
  • Knowledge of industry reconciliation systems
  • Knowledge of PEP, ISA, Unit Trust, OEIC or Investment Trust administration after attending DST Training.
  • Basic keyboard skills to include awareness of MS Office packages. (Essential)
  • Good Verbal reasoning and numeric skills. (Essential)
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative without supervision and as part of wider team (Essential)
  • Good industry knowledge preferably within a funds environment
  • Ability to reprioritise effectively or multi-task to achieve workload within required timescales
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • A knowledge of FCA & Client Money requirements in line with current regulations
  • 2 years business experience. Demonstrating an understanding of responsibilities within the Financial Services Industry. (Essential)
  • FSA T&C or the commitment to study for the IOC award. (Essential)
  • Excellent Communication, Planning, Prioritising & Organisational skills. (Essential)
