Assistant Management Accountant

Job Introduction

The main accountability of this role is to provide financial analysis and support to:

  • Management Accountant for Head of Finance WMI
  • The management accounting function
  • The business unit or function for which they are responsible 

Role Responsibility

  • Assist with the completion of month end management accounts (including accruals, prepayments and other accounting adjustments)
  • Assist with maintaining a management accounting MI structure to support information requirements of the business unit at all levels of management. Where applicable including but not limited to:
    • Revenue analysis
    • Client profitability
    • Resourcing analysis (e.g. staff model)
    • Project profit and loss view
    • Standard costing analysis
  • Assist with data and trend analysis of key nominal ledger items
  • Assist with cost centre/budget owner meetings to:
    • Review and address monthly variance analysis
    • Drive budgetary control
    • Gather planning information and assumptions
  • Assist with the production of annual budget and quarterly forecasts for applicable areas to agreed deadlines
  • Assist with assessing the adequacy of management information employed in maintaining financial control and develop action plans to deliver required improvement
  • Assist with the performance of financial control for area of responsibility including but not limited to:
    • Review of recruitment requests
    • Review of purchase order requests
    • Review of new project business cases
    • Monitor of inflight project costs vs business case  with project sponsor, PMO and business unit FD/BP follow up when necessary
  • Assist with the production of total company financial reporting as required
  • Carry out any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Part qualified professional accountant
  • Highly computer literate with strong spreadsheet skill
  • Good communication skills to create strong working relationships across the business
  • Pro-active approach to dealing with business issues within a high tech, high volume business environment
